Our annual summer reading program will once again commence in June. Join us June 4, 11, and 18 to read with children at Southview Elementary and complete group activities designed to reinforce learning.
This year, we’ll be reading Sit-In: How Four Friends Stood Up by Sitting Down by Andrea Davis Pinkney, Stitch by Stitch: Elizabeth Hobbs Keckly Sews Her Way to Freedom by Connie Schofield, and Breaking Through the Clouds: The Sometimes Turbulent Life of Meteorologist Joanne Simpson by Sandra Nickel. All of these books have connections to holistic health and well-being.
This is an excellent opportunities for students in education, public health, social work, or related fields to gain hands on experience working with children in our local community, but it’s open to students in any field who are looking to work with children and earn service hours.
