April 2025 – Sexual Assault Awareness Month

It’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month and we’re starting the month off strong with our annual Take Back the Night event on April 3 at 6:30 p.m. on the Quad. Take Back the Night is a rally, march, and vigil to show our support for survivors and recommit to ending sexual violence. Another major event is Survivor’s Bloom From Within on Tuesday, April 15 from 3-5 p.m. on the Tutwiler front lawn. This event will feature campus and community resources for survivors of interpersonal violence and the opportunity to make your own tissue paper flowers. Expect special appearances from both Big Al and @UAKenny! Each Tuesday we’ll be hosting a “Teal Tuesday” tabling event where students, staff, and faculty can stop by to pick up a teal ribbon, learn more about Camellia Center resources, and discuss ways to get involved. We’ll also have training opportunities for students (Bystander Intervention), staff, and faculty (Harbor Training), and our EveryVoice Book Club will feature a book about sexual assault. Also be sure to follow our social media for interactive content opportunities!
