Each year, our Center awards two scholarships, the Project Hope Scholarship and the Service Leadership Scholarship. This year, two applicants were selected for the Service Leadership Scholarship for their extensive service and their worthy plans to use the award money.
Lexi Alcott serves as an Ambassador for our Center and as a member of our Student Leadership Council. Additionally, she revived the student organization Not on My Campus in the last academic year. She has volunteered with both Tuscaloosa Safe Center and Turning Point Domestic Violence Shelter and serves as an officer for Alpha Psi Omega. Lexi accepted this scholarship at the Triota Induction Ceremony at the Gorgas House on April 3.
Caroline Cooley has completed her third year as an Ambassador for the Center. She also serves as an officer for her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, and served on the Alabama Panhellenic Association Judicial Board. She has been admitted to UA’s School of Law and hopes to participate in the Domestic Violence Law Clinic to be able to continue to support survivors.
The Project Hope Scholarship is only open to our clients, so to protect their confidentiality, winners are not announced publicly. However, there were many worthy applicants again this year and winners have been notified. All of our scholarship recipients are outstanding students and people, and we hope that the funds they receive help set them on a path to success.
